About Us

Bandstra Forest Products is a small, Christian, family owned and operated sawmill and forest products supplier located in Dyer, Indiana serving Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. We primarily supply hobby and professional woodworkers and we help them create their best work by supplying the best wood we can. Most of our lumber is sourced from local, urban trees. We do our best to make the highest grade lumber we can out of every log, and all of our by-products are able to be utilized for firewood and other wood products. All the wood we produce is properly stacked and stickered for drying to provide you with quality boards. After air drying, which takes from 1-6 months, the wood goes into our solar-heated dry kiln until it reaches a moisture content of 6-9%. Kiln dryed wood should be used for all projects that will be in a climate controlled environment to prevent unwanted shrinkage and warping. Our air dried wood is more readily available and can be used on projects that will be used outdoors or in an unheated area. We also provide custom sawing services and can supply you with any custom size boards or live edge slabs cut from your log or ours (wood to be dried requires at least 3 months lead time). We also offer woodworking services that include custom cutting boards.
